Portfolio Finance Analyst (m/f/d), 1. Bild

VORN Bioenergy is a leading biomethane producer and project developer, with over 40 biogas projects delivered in Germany and beyond, including Europe’s first biomethane plant in 2006. We have delivered biomethane plant development, construction, management, and optimisation across a 130+ MW project portfolio in six European markets and has an additional 90+ MW additional development pipeline. We’re continuing to grow our project portfolio, expanding into new markets across Europe. Working at VORN means being an active part of the green energy transition. Join us our mission to unlock the potential of biomethane across Europe and beyond.

To strengthen our team in Munich (Germany), Milan (Italy) or Madrid (Spain) we are looking for you as Portfolio Finance Analyst (m/f/d):

Your Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and update individual project financial models (DCF, project finance cash flow models) for development pipeline and operating assets.
  • Run scenario and sensitivity analyses to support investment decisions, stage gate reviews and FID papers.
  • Maintain the standardized assumption book across all projects, ensuring consistency in feedstock pricing, offtake terms, capex estimates and energy costs.
  • Support debt sizing and structuring analysis: DSCR calculations, covenant testing, debt sculpting.
  • Build and maintain the portfolio dashboard: project-level IRR vs. target, CAPEX/EBITDA multiples, devex tracking, RAG status and concentration analysis.
  • Operate the Investment Grid: apply scoring at each stage gate, track adjustments and calculate value creation at each gate.
  • Produce the creaming curve and portfolio blended return analysis on a quarterly basis.
  • Prepare data and charts for the quarterly Shareholder Committee pack and the management dashboard.
  • Monitor data quality across project inputs and flag inconsistencies.
  • Support the Head of Portfolio Finance in maintaining the consolidated corporate model.
  • Integrate individual project models into the portfolio-level view.
  • Update quarterly cash flow forecasts, equity return calculations and value creation tracking.
  • Prepare financial models and information packages for lender due diligence processes.
  • Support term sheet analysis and financial close checklists.
  • Maintain the debt facility tracker across all projects (drawn amounts, maturities, covenants, compliance).

Your Profile

  • Relevant years of experience in financial modelling, project finance, infrastructure advisory, asset management, or corporate finance.
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Strong Excel modelling skills, including DCF valuation, project finance models, and scenario/sensitivity analysis.
  • Experience with infrastructure and/or renewable energy assets; biomethane or biogas exposure is a plus.
  • Proven ability to prepare investment analyses, reports, dashboards, and portfolio performance reviews.
  • Solid understanding of project finance structures and key metrics such as DSCR, debt sculpting, and covenants.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders across geographies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to present insights to senior management, investors, and shareholders.
  • Self-motivated team player who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment; experience in a Private Equity-backed business is an advantage.
  • Fluent English required; additional German, Italian, or Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe (15–20%).

What we offer

  • Visibility to senior decision-makers at VORN and Macquarie Asset Management. Your models and portfolio analytics will feed directly into the Board of Management and Shareholder Committee reporting. This level of exposure to institutional investment governance is uncommon at this stage of a career.
  • The opportunity to work across five European markets on a growing portfolio of biomethane projects.
  • A steep learning curve: you will cover project finance, portfolio analytics and corporate modelling in one role.
  • A lean team where your contribution is visible and your development is fast.
